A link references a PDF file. When tried to launch it, the opened page was blank.

Example: http://ftp.novell.com/partners/oracle/docs/11gR2_sles11_install.pdf

What could be wrong?

Hi
Might be something to do with the actual file, do you have the actual
url that links to it?

You can get the file with wget and open manually;

wget -c http://ftp.novell.com/partners/oracle/docs/11gR2_sles11_install.pdf

Opens fine for me in Evince, which is what I have Firefox set to do with PDFs by default. I tried letting Firefox use the Adobe Reader plugin and it opened fine in that too.
