Can Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 4 x86_84 edition(kernel 2.6.16.0-99) only support 128 cpus at most?
As I have a system with 8 Intel Xeon E7-8870(10cores,20threads) CPUs in it. When the HT is enable in BIOS, I can only find 128 CPUs under the OS.
I have try to compile a new kernel, and can find 160 cores. But this method is not acceptable by our IT administrator.
So how to solve this problem except compile kernel

Um........ I think you should be able to go a fair bit higher with SLES
11, but it looks like SLES 10 was as you state:

So, go with SLES 11 which is already at SP2.

Good luck.

Ditto on SLES 11.. you need to match the Linux with the machine. SLES 10 is far
too old for the architecture. If you must use SLES 10, put it on older
architecture... that's just a general rule of thumb.

SLES 10 came out in 2006. That's pretty old. General support ends July 31, 2013.
