Hello,
I have installed Freeradius 2.1.1.1 in a Netware Tree on a SLES 11 (172.16.0.26) server. The Tree consists of 4 x Netware 6.5 sp8 eDir 8.8 server and 4 x SLES 11 server, operating Groupwise 8, Zenworks 11, with Watchguard. The Freeradius is to accommodate aerohive wireless units authenticating over PPP and Chap encryption.
I am using NTradPing utility to verify operation. Freeradius is running in debug mode. The error I get is wanting a cleartext password. I have setup universal passwords and defined it for the test user in Imanager.
On the Netware 6.5 (172.16.0.7) LDAP Server DSTRACE +LDAP shows query, with no bind attemp.
This same LDAP server is queried by watch guard and Zenworks 11 successfully.
I have exported the SSL certificateDNS to the radius server and defined location.
Please help me move forward.

What is the test user's DN? I'm guessing it is cn=Ct,o=Pukekohe_High
since that user was found and then completed a successful bind to the LDAP
service, but I do not know that for sure.

I couldn't spot the query for "cn=upass" in the LDAP trace - and the freeradius debug shows no indication of an LDAP configuration nor access attempt. How have you set up your LDAP configuration in freeradius?

Another thing to note is that IMO freetype needs a clear-text password to authenticate against LDAP - you're receiving a non-cleartext password from your client. (Does you /etc/raddb/modules/ldap carry the following in the header, too?)

# However, LDAP can be used for authentication ONLY when the
# Access-Request packet contains a clear-text User-Password

Hello
I have changed the configuration files and now have the Radius SLES 11 server (172.16.0.26) binding to the ldap server (172.16.0.7). The debug Radius log now show the LDAP modules loading. The Debug Radius Server Log shows errors in expand of LDAP string and not being able to find the user.

Try this filter statement instead:

From your first message, it appears your LDAP entries are named per "cn", rather than "uid" - did I guess that right? Did it just slip by when you edited your config file, or is this new to you? How experienced are you with LDAP - I wouldn't want to bother you with basic things if you're experienced, and wouldn't want to assume them if you're not.
