View Full Version : Can I use opensuse repositories for SLES?

I'm trying to install python-setuptools but it isn't listed in the main repositories. I do see if in the opensuse OSS repository. Is there any issue with installing anything from the OpenSuse OSS repository?

You may find dependencies won't resolve because the versions are too
old. I wouldn't configure the repository to be active on SLES, but you
could download the package and try installing it to see if it'll run.

If not, maybe someone can build it for SLES for you (or you could
yourself, if you're familiar with using the build service).

Hi
In a nutshell, NO!....

Install the SLE SDK, you should find most of what you need

Repository: SLE11-SDK-SP3-Pool
Name: python-setuptools
Version: 0.6c8-10.19.2.1

If push comes to shove, the use the search feature on OBS to find tools;
http://software.opensuse.org/package/python-setuptools

Select the spanner on the right to set the release your after, else
click on the unstable drop down to show them all. Anything from OBS
will be unsupported as such. I would also steer clear of home
repositories and use devel(opment) ones.
