Good afternoon all,

i have an installation which has 7 scsi disks and i need to add 2 more to expand my LVM based partition,

when i run scsi-rescan-bus.sh it does not says anything about my 2 new scsi disks...

is this a known issue or VMware problem/bug?

Thank you in advance.

PS: Server is ESXi 5 ,Guest is SLES11 SP3 with latest patches.

Michael.

i found a temporary solution but i would be thankful if someone could help me out..

here is a "dirty" fix

i know which id the new scsi disk uses so if i issue:

echo "scsi add-single-device 0 0 8 0" > /proc/scsi/scsi

then i can see the new hdd and create partition and use LVM on it...

regards,

Michael.

also discovered that rescan-scsi-bus.sh script has -w switch which scans ID 0-15..

Hope that this will help someone else... :)

Hi Michael,

thanks for sharing that solution - having to activate "wide scsi" sure doesn't come to mind as a first thing...
