Hi
If your going to dual boot you need to look at installing windows 8
first, then update to 8.1. Or do you have an install dvd for windows?

Normally after the windows install you need to do a few things and also
shrink the partition to install a linux system.

For a SLED install, you need to ensure that you boot from the efi file
on the dvd, so perhaps some hardware details of you setup?

Also what size hard drive does the system have and how much do you want
to allocate to windows 8?

The other option if your not running graphics intensive applications in
Windows is to install windows in a virtual machine and run under linux.

Hi
To prepare the system hdd you need a live cd, if you grab the openSUSE
13.1 rescue cd from http://software.opensuse.org/131/en this will boot
in efi/secure boot mode if it's enabled in your system BIOS.

You need to then right-click on the desktop and open a terminal;

su -
gdisk /dev/sda

You need to create partition 1, size 260MB and type ef00, save and exit.

You could also create a / a /home and swap while there but not
necessary. What size disk do you have and how much RAM?

With just the above two things, a) a gpt disk and b) a small partition
set to type ef00 (set to /boot/efi during install) is enough to get you
going. The only thing before you commence the install is to check the
elilo boot option and ensure 'secure boot' is enabled before the install
starts.
