View Full Version : BUG! - When adding PCI Device with virt-manager (SLES11 SP1)

Hi.

I found the a bug on SLES 11 SP1:

When adding pci devices with hex slots like 04:0b.0 virt-manager writes
04:11.0 into the xend config files.

Work-arround:

1. xm list -l vm > vm

2. Edit the file manually and put in 04:0b.0 instead of 04:11.0
everywhere.

3. xm del vm

4. xm new -F vm

Hi Chris,

Nice find with your workaround... but to get this fixed, you can best
open a bug/SR with Novell (as this is not an officially monitored spot
by Novell for it).

Hi Willem.

I can't. I am still evaluating. I tried to raise a service request but
I have no customer ID. Customer_CenterEMEA@novell.com told me I will
only be able to raise service request when I buy a licence.

Is there another way to raise service request without an ID?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

You should be able to search for (did not find any open bugs for it),
and otherwise file a bug against SLES 11 SP1 using your Novell/forum id
at http://bugzilla.novell.com

For other options I will check and let you know....

@bugzilla: There is no product SLES11SP1 nor a classification. All I can
see are SLES Real Time Extensions.

It needs to be spelled out - Novell's official policy on product names
(and I assume it hasn't changed since Attachmate took over) is that names
are not to be abbreviated - so you need to look under "SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server" as a product classification, and then select the
specific product once you've filtered the classification.

I am getting this error when I choose SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for
classification:

The selected Classification does not contain any products available for
bug entry. Please select a different one.

My mistake - I was going from memory (as a former employee) and didn't
realise that there was a restriction in place. :(

I found this page:

http://support.novell.com/additional/bugreport.html?
sourceidint=suplnav4a_bug

As an alternative place to submit the bug.

Thanks a lot.

I have submitted a bug report. Don't know why they didn't send me the
link by email.

I'm not sure either - could be that whomever you ended up with was
unaware of that link - I was there for 8 years and never saw it until now
eitehr.

In any event, thanks for submitting the bug. :)

Hi Chris,

Sorry for not posting back earlier....

Novell opened a bug following your report. Turns out this has been
spotted and already on route to fix.

Quoting my Novell contact:

I've asked for an update on the bug as I'm not sure if the fix has made
it into the SLES 11 patch channel yet.

To confirm: This issue should be fixed on SLES 11 when having applied
all the latest updates from the regular update channel.
