Hello All:
Recently, I just bought SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (1 Instance, Basic Maintenance, 1 Year).
I paid 50 bucks with my VISA card. And I want to buy the backup cd except the downloadable version.
I made two phone calls to 1-800-858-4000. One gave me the answer that 'suse.org' has that product.
The other told me why not download the iso file from what I have ordered.

Well, before my phone calls, I ever wrote emails to suse.en.cs@digitalriver.com and they told me
that I can buy a backup CD from the Order Details page. Well, I went there and I found the iso
files which I can download. Besides that, nothing more. I cannot order the backup CD.

You know, I just want to know how exactly I can get the backup CD. I tried to ask nicely from SUSE
and maybe they did not feel that due to my poor english. Anyone, please help. Thanks.

Joe

Welcome to the forums. Hopefully we can help you get on your way.

By "backup CD" do you mean just the physical install media? I do not
remember any alternatives, so I am guessing so. Is it safe to assume you
are unable to burn the ISO downloaded to a DVD? If that's the case I
presume we can somehow find some way to get you a physical copy, though
since I do not know where you made your purchase or what it includes, that
may be an additional fee.

Hello AB:
I just install my SLED-11-SP3-x86_64 which I bought from SUSE shop.
Well, everything looks good and I will observe for several days. I believe
everything should be fine if properly installed in a secure environment.
And when it booted, the beautiful green screen made me happy.

Yup, I can download and then burn the ISO to a DVD. However,
secure computing is never too much. It seems every customer who
orders that ISO has a different url link to download. Personally I
think there is a minor disadvantage that it seems there is no check
sum on the web site for the ISO? (Or every customer has a slightly
different ISO?)

I believe several different checksums together made
it hard to be 'tampered'. Of course, only if the web site is trusted(No MitM attack)
and my local desktop is secure.

Yes, I may need a physical copy and I would appreciate if you can tell me
where to get a physical copy :)

Good day and thanks for this desktop version Linux OS.

I appreciate your concern about integrity of the data. The ISO is almost
certainly consistent for everybody downloading, and checksums are
available here:

https://download.suse.com/protected/Summary.jsp?buildid=Nw5At9_UZaA~

For example:

SLED-11-SP3-DVD-i586-GM-DVD1.iso 9b37756799c46b023182e639f4f99d11
SLED-11-SP3-DVD-i586-GM-DVD2.iso a9e8ba85216d211d5d1180c4f788535e
SLED-11-SP3-DVD-x86_64-GM-DVD1.iso bde20662ef3032f462d1ec87e23658cc
SLED-11-SP3-DVD-x86_64-GM-DVD2.iso 88e4c643206e751309134b9371781b10

You should only need the first or third file mentioned, as the 'DVD2'
options contain development and source code, I believe.
