Hi,

do the license agreement for SLES prevent anyone from creating an own repository for downloaded SLES packages and patches in his own network? Obviously the repo is not available from outside die corporate network and all the servers are licensed. Or am I forced to use SMT?

Hi Hans,

the last time I checked the license agreement, no statement was contained that related to the technology used to deploy the patches. So as long as those machines that receive updates are under maintenance, there should be no problem.

But I'm not a lawyer, nor am I an official representative of SUSE. If you're looking for a final statement (i.e. for some auditing process), you should get in touch with your local SUSE representative.

Best regards,
Jens
