Hi,

Trying to register a SLES10-SP2 machine against a freshly installed SMT with all the corresponding repositories I get this:

web01:~ # ./clientSetup4SMT.sh --host smt02
Certificate:
...
Do you accept this certificate? [y/n] y
Client setup finished.
Start the registration now? [y/n] y
/usr/bin/suse_register -i -L /root/.suse_register.log
ERROR: 400:

web01:~ # uname -a
Linux web01 2.6.16.60-0.21-smp #1 SMP Tue May 6 12:41:02 UTC 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
web01:~ # cat /etc/SuSE-release
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (i586)
VERSION = 10
PATCHLEVEL = 2

Looking at the error log on the SMT server I see:

[Fri Dec 26 17:06:32 2014] [error] No Product match found: SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Server-SP2 10 SP2 i686

But the product is there, albeit it's i586, not i686:

There is in fact no i686 there, but there is no i686 product to sync in customer center available either.

How do I make SLES10 register correctly? (I have used the most current clientSetup4SMT.sh script from the new SMT server.)

Hi
You would need to transition to using SUSEConnect and SMT;

Here is the link to the master TID, which should provide further info;
https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7005002

Hi,

Could you elaborate on that?
Because on the page you refer to I cannot find anything related to "SuseConnect".
And note that we are already using SMT in its latest version.

I've a call open with support for almost a month now but not much is happening.
Anyway noone there has said anything about "SuseConnect", therefore my question.

Best regards,

marki

Hi
Since the release of SLE 12, SUSE have been transitioning to SCC and
new servers for SLE products in the SUSE domain.

The FAQ mention SUSE Connect..
https://www.suse.com/solutions/tools/smt_faq.html

If your running a mixture of OES and SLE then AFAIK you need to point
at both NCC and SCC.

If you have the latest SMT, then try the commands in the FAQ, is it
working? And can you see the relevant repositories in the list? If you
don't then I would assume that's why you can't register the client.

Yes and no.

If you're running a mixture of OES and SLE12 then you need two SMT
servers, one pointing at NCC (for OES and associated SLES repos) and the
other at SCC for SLE12 and non-OES SLES.

SLE and SMT can only point at one Customer Center at any time. SUSE
Manager can point at both NCC and SMT.

HTH.
