SLES11 (i dont believe they have any SP's installed. I have made them aware of this and am planning to upgrade to SP2). I have a shared folder in a users home directory. The permissions are 777 with owner as root and group as root. I have about 6 users that access these files and folders. I'm noticing if I open a file that has the full root access, and I make changes to that file, the server then changes the user to just me, and then if someone else opens that same file later, it says it's "read only". What do I need to do to get all users read/write access to all files and folders without changing to the user that accessed the file?

Hi
Create a group then ensure the users are added to that group. Set the
folder back to default permissions for the user and the file(s) to be
owned by the user, but part of the new group you created. Ensure
permissions are 555 (-rw-rw-rw) and you should be good to go.
