I've a tape device installed on SLES 11 SP4, connected via SCSI. The device works at startup, but after 2-3 weeks it stop working.
With previous version of SLES, running rescan-scsi-bus.sh --forcerescan I was able to recover the tape, now the same commad doesn't restore the tape.
Previous I needed to run rescan-scsi-bus two time:

  • the first remove the tape (the tepe was seen by rescan-scsi-bus, but not by tape command like mt -f /dev/nst0 status)

rescan-scsi-bus.sh --forcerescan

With SLES11 SP4 no more.
The only action I have is restarting the server.

Can I have some suggestions in order to solve my problem?

Thanks,
Fabrizio
