    How do i install gtar in suse linux?

    Have you tried "zypper in tar" ?

    Hi Thomas

    zypper in tar is working fine.
    But i am look specifically for gtar package.
    When i do zypper in gtar , its showing No provider of 'gtar' found.

    gtar seem to be a solaris package, it's basically the same as tar on linux, if not can you explain what the difference is?

    In addition to Thomas' answer (gtar = GNU tar) I've seen a reference to
    ..gtar files so perhaps you're wanting to extract from a gzipped tar
    file? If so, you can use tar with -z option.
