Hello, we are currently attempting to use a SUSE 12 server as an email relay for gmail for some of our internal reporting applications.

We are attempting to configure Postfix to act as a relax to smtp.gmail.com

So far, it appears as if we have the configuration correct, as we have /etc/postfix/main.cf

The relay host set to [smtp.gmail.com]:587
smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes
smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd
smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous

We have the password file correctly populated with the correct credentials. We reloaded postfix, even rebooted the server, just to be sure. When we try and send a test email over terminal with

mail -s test *email@addr.com* </dev/null

We get nothing, looking in mutt reveals a returned error message "undelivered mail returned to sender"

<email>: host smtp.gmail.com said 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first.

We telnet to smtp.gmail and ran STARTTLS. The server returned a sucess code, but then running the email again, we get the same error back.

Anyone have any clue what the issue could be?

Thank you, Jim.
