Hi I have a suse vm
I need to set name servers for DNS resolution in this vm
do I need to make changes to /etc/resolv.conf or /etc/sysconfig/network/config file:

I got confused as the ca /etc/resolv.conf gives me this
Before you change this file manually, consider to define the

# static DNS configuration using the following variables in the

# /etc/sysconfig/network/config file:

# NETCONFIG\_DNS\_STATIC\_SEARCHLIST

# NETCONFIG\_DNS\_STATIC\_SERVERS

# NETCONFIG\_DNS\_FORWARDER

# or disable DNS configuration updates via netconfig by setting:

# NETCONFIG\_DNS\_POLICY=‘’

@Thaddeus Hi and welcome to the Forum 🙂 See you other thread, all can be configured via YaST including your DNS settings 😉

@ malcolmlewis
Why to make it easy when you can make it complicated yes :\_)
When I hear Yast I get mad.
Linux should be able to configure almost all via bash scripts with possibilities direct modification of configuration files and in SUSE it is like in Microsoft, because You make from Linux Windows.
I prefer possibility of editation conf file instead of Yast.

@ZAJDAN_COSMIC Hi, yes all can be configured outside of YaST, with the likes of the Micro OSes coming to life, I use combustion to pre-configure as required. Then there is Cockpit etc. Some folks just prefer the ease of YaST and a GUI environment (or Ncurses from a non desktop environment).
