# Advertise address options

Is there any additional information on the following option when starting a Rancher server?

`awslocal --advertise-address awslocal Retrieves the IP from http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/local-ipv4`

Is this the recommended way for starting a Rancher server on `AWS`?
