I hope this is the right forum. My apologies if not. I have a SLES 10.1 OES 2 server that is resulting in some interesting error messages when our backup devices tries to do a full backup. We are using a solution from Unitrends and this is the only Linux server that yields these errors. The errors are exactly the same everytime a full backup is started. Below is a small sampling of the errors: a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/LSS/ZLSS/Internal.cmd, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/LSS/ZLSS/Internal.cmd has been shortened by 1048576 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/LSS/ZLSS/PhysicalIO.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/LSS/ZLSS/PhysicalIO.xml has been shortened by 1046900 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/GeneralStats.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/GeneralStats.xml has been shortened by 1047293 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/BufferCache.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/BufferCache.xml has been shortened by 1047017 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/NameCache.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/NameCache.xml has been shortened by 1047854 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/FileStats.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/FileStats.xml has been shortened by 1048150 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/ObjectCache.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/ObjectCache.xml has been shortened by 1047885 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Thread.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Thread.xml has been shortened by 1047944 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/AuthorizationCache.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/AuthorizationCache.xml has been shortened by 1048188 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/CompressionStats.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/CompressionStats.xml has been shortened by 1048147 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/FileEvents.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/FileEvents.xml has been shortened by 1048414 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/ModifiedFilesList.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/ModifiedFilesList.xml has been shortened by 1048435 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/VolumeInfo.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/VolumeInfo.xml has been shortened by 1046710 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/UserInfo.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/UserInfo.xml has been shortened by 1048472 bytes!! a /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/DirInfo.xml, 2048 blocks ctar: file /\_admin/Manage\_NSS/Volume/\_ADMIN/DirInfo.xml has been shortened by 1048446 bytes!! The OES forums are probably a better place, over on [http://forums.novell.com/](http://forums.novell.com/) Also, don’t try to backup \_admin. I’m not sure that is a good thing since it is not holding real data. Good luck. ---
