# Helm Upgrade Handling

How does Rancher handle upgrading a Helm Chart? Is there detailed documentation somewhere for that?

Does the upgraded Chart need the old deployed versions in its catalog during the deployment or can it upgrade older versions that are deployed, but not included in the catalog, anymore?

Apparently, it needs the old chart version in the catalog, if it is deleted from Rancher’s cache.
