# How sync date in server with NTP server

Hi,

In SLES 11, for sync server with ntp, the command is “rcntp ntptimeset”

What is the command in SLES 12sp2 and SLES 12sp3?

You should configure NTPd as a NTP Client in “Now and On Boot” start mode. Please read chaptre 24 in “Administration Guide” “SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP3”:

Forget all this manual time sync commands (like ntpdate)!

Be prepared for the change from NTP/NTPd to chrony in SLE15. See:
