# Kubernets cluster upgrade downtime

Hi there,

I just tried to upgrade a Rancher created cluster. It went fine, but we faced a downtime period for our workloads. The documentation specifies that during upgrade, cluster won’t be accessible, but I thought it was only cluster management… It bother me that the workloads suffer downtime too.  
Is it a normal behavior ?
