# Monitoring options for ETCD

The version we’re at doesn’t register etcd as pods. I suppose this means it is an external deployment.
My understanding is that etcd should be listening on port 2379, which is the endpoint it uses for metrics. I’d like to get at that port so I can monitor etcd health using Prometheus. But I am not sure how to make this work with the current deployment.
Any ideas?

Still wondering how does anyone deploying rancher with etcd monitor etcd health? 🙂
