Here is what I have got from the support team :

" The user(s) should be able to uninstall the synaptics-touchpad driver and re-install it to get it working. If I remember right, that rpm would be under /tmp/HP\_SWSetup folder or /usr/share/HP\_SWSetup folder. There may be a shorter solution but this solution seems simple.

From your question, should I gather that their update from SLED11SP1 to SLED11SP2 went fine?"

I also found a thread on touchpad synaptic involving Fedora : Did you try from the desktop panel "System\>Preferences\>Mouse\>Touchpad\> and see if everything is configured ?
