Official Novell support is at
[https://secure-www.novell.com/center/eservic](https://secure-www.novell.com/center/eservic) click on ‘Submit new SR’
(or equivalent in your language) but I do not know if this works for
SLED bought with HP computer. (Arnaudk93 - can you perhaps clarify
exactly how people who have got SLED on a HP computer get support for
SLED? Is it from Novell or from HP?)

Please can you you post the output of these commands

## Code:

## $ zypper lr -u

## Code:

## $ /sbin/lspci -nnk

When posting the output put CODE tags around it (look for # button when
writing post)

If your operating system is broken and will not let you log in do not
have to lose all your files. You can boot from a LiveCD (e.g. openSUSE
or Ubuntu) to access your files and copy them to an external USB drive.

Correct link is [https://secure-www.novell.com/center/eservice](https://secure-www.novell.com/center/eservice)

As for where to get support, if you purchased an HP machine preinstalled
with SLED then I believe, from earlier conversations behind the scenes,
that you need to contact HP directly.

I have contacted the HP support team. I will let you know.

HP SLED comes with a long term basic support. If you get a black screen
again, you can indeed use the command line thanks to these keys
combination.

Please wait until our investigation.

One little additional question, if I can.
As I understand, I need search in SUSE SLE-11 SP1 (repo directory, or
how it’s named correctly). But what if there is no needed software in
that directory?
For instance, I found today that I need rdesktop. And there is no
rdesktop in SUSE SLE-11 SP1, but there is in SUSE SLE-11 and OpenSuse
directories. What directory is compatible, so I can use it without
fear?))

OK, this is good. You have both the repo that contains all the packages
included in SLED 11 SP 1 (SLED11-SP1-Pool) and the repo that contains
the updates.

The first thing you should do when you want some software is check if
it’s actually included in SLED or if it’s included in 'NOVELL: Downloads

- SUSE Linux Enterprise Software Development Kit 11 SP1’
([http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=zzeQqpY9nK4~](http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=zzeQqpY9nK4~)) (This is
free. You just need DVD1)

## Code:

$ zypper in rdesktop gimp mono

* * *

You mentioned fonts earlier. Most of the fonts I have installed seem to
have Cyrillic characters in them - but maybe I’m not looking at the
right thing. The closest I get to using Cyricllic is to write Toys
Я Us or NIИ 🙂
There is a package called free-ttf-fonts which contains lots and lots
of fonts.
If you have fonts that you use on your openSUSE computer then you can
almost certainly use them in SLED too.
