# Software Updates schedule

I’m testing the automatic updates feature on SUSE 11 sp3 and “Check for Updates” with the 4 options (never, daily, weekly, hourly) and I was wondering what determines when these actually run ?

I would think a cron job, but I don’t see anything in /etc/cron.weekly when I set the option to weekly. What I would like to do is set a specific day of the week and time. Any way to do this ?

Hi  
In normally fires up in the background after a user logs in  
via /usr/share/gnome/autostart. So in essence the time starts on login  
to whatever you have configured.

The programs prefixed gpk- for example gpk-log will provide info  
or gpk-backend-status etc.

You could setup zypper to do this and send you an email of the updates  
available?

Else disable the autostart and use a cron job to start the gpk backend.
