# Support for Debian

Hello,
will other OS (Debian 9 for example) be supported again for Rancher 2.0? In the past “any OS with supported docker version” was ok, now only 3 specific OS are allowed.

Since Rancher is powered by Kubernetes, I believe it will now be constrained by the Docker versions and OSes supported by Kubernetes. But I did a quick google search and couldn’t find an explicit “support” matrix for Kubernetes. I can’t guarantee this, but I think you’ll see the list of supported OSes grow over time. To limit the surface area of we have to test and verify at the beginning of GA, we have had to limit the setups that we support.

Ok. We will try how far we come with Debian. Until now we have had no big issues with imported k8s clusters running on Debian.
