# Using libxenlight with SLES-11

When I use the xl command, xl complains…

[QUOTE]xen1:~ # xl list  
WARNING: xend is running! It is not recommended using libxenlight in  
conjunction with the legacy xend toolstack. Use -f (force) to override[/QUOTE]  
How can I convert from using xm to xl (i.e., XAPI) to manage Xen on SLES 11?

The directions on [the xen.org wiki](http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/XL#Upgrading_from_xend) seem incomplete: After disabling xend and rebooting the host, xl doesn’t seem to know about any of the preexisting DomU’s. Hu?! 😕

This prescription also has the disadvantage of ignoring the /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp configuration file (e.g., the xend-relocation-[server|port|address] settings are ignored). :mad:
