Have a weird issue, just build a server 2012 r2 box to replace a server. Once in our domain, it gets wsus settings and then will show up in our wsus console. Gets the first 20ish updates fine, but then shows it needs 0 updates, even though if I check our wsus console, there are probably a couple hundred for server 2012r2, this just will not detect them. Any suggestions? Aside from things like moving to linux, etc. 🙂 I’ve already fdisk’d it and built it twice from scratch. – Stevo ---

Hi Stevo It never ceases to amaze me how you ask for Microsoft assistance in a Micro Focus forum! Anyways, on the server not getting updates try the following at command line: wuauclt /detectnow Let us know how it goes as there are other ways of doing this. Plus, I’d rather ask this smart bunch for help where you might actually _get_ help vs a M$ forum where it’s canned answers. 🙂 Also, I’ve tried the wuauclt commands, removed it from wsus and added it again, done the /resetauthorization, and nothing helps. – Stevo ---

So, I downloaded a diffent iso, one that already has the ~900MB update to server 2012r2 and rebuilt the server with this iso. Seems to be fine now getting all the updates. – Stevo ---

I had to get comfortable with Linux (post NetwWare), but now that I am, I like Linux patching better than Windows patching. If only all the applications we run would run on Linux.
