Has anyone seen situations where ghosted XP PCs start showing messages in the System log - event ID 11163 The system failed to register host(A) records … If you type in IPCONFIG/REGISTERDNS the message goes away for a few days but then comes back again. ---

Please check the “Access this computer from the network” policy setting.
