Confused About Preparing for SUSE Certified Administrator in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 (SCA_SLES15) Exam – Need Guidance

I am planning to attempt the SUSE Certified Administrator in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 (SCA_SLES15) exam. I have already read that the exam focuses on system administration tasks such as installation, configuration, user management, process handling, and basic troubleshooting on SLES15. I also know it covers command line operations, systemd services, storage management, and network configuration.

Even with this understanding, I am still confused about how to structure my preparation. A few specific questions I have are:

  1. Is it enough to rely on SUSE official documentation, or should I combine it with additional resources?

  2. How much focus should I put on hands-on practice in a virtual lab environment versus just reading theory?

  3. Are the exam questions more scenario-based (practical troubleshooting and tasks) or direct knowledge-based (commands and options)?

  4. I came across Study4Exam practice questions for SCA_SLES15. Are they actually useful in reflecting the real exam style and difficulty level?

  5. What would be the most effective step-by-step study plan to get exam-ready within 4 to 6 weeks?

If anyone who has taken this exam or is currently preparing can share their strategy, recommended resources, or even a study roadmap, it would be a big help.

Firstly please note that I have not taken this particular exam. However I do have this certification by virtue of passing a SLE12 to 15 Update exam having previously passed the SLE11 and 12 versions of this exam. I am also a SUSE Certified Instructor and allowed to teach the official course associated with this exam.

Hopefully you have already seen https://www.suse.com/training/exam/sca-sles-15 which lists the detailed objectives to be tested in the exam. However there are only 70 questions so there’s a limit in how much can be tested.

Whilst the exam is a theory-based exam and not a practical exercise you will be asked questions in various different ways to test your knowledge.

Whilst reading all the official documentation would help I would not rely on that alone - having access to and practical experience with SLES15 is essential.

Good luck!
