Importing K3S cluster into Rancher Desktop (Windows)

I am new to Kubernetes and am trying to set up a home lab.

I have a K3S cluster running on 4 Pi 5 16’s that appears to be healthy.

I am trying to get the cluster imported into Rancher for administration and get the following:

“failed to discover client for /v1, Kind=Config”

Google searches have not lead to any significant progress. Again, I am new to all of this and would appreciate any direction. Thanks in advance

Which versions of K3s and Rancher are you using?

Rancher Desktop: 1.22.0

K3S: v1.34.3+k3s1 (48ffa7b6)

go version go1.24.11

root@k3sPi5m1:~# kubectl get nodes

NAME STATUS ROLES AGE VERSION

k3spi5m1 Ready control-plane 18d v1.34.3+k3s1

k3spi5s1 Ready 18d v1.34.3+k3s1

k3spi5s2 Ready 18d v1.34.3+k3s1

k3spi5s3 Ready 18d v1.34.3+k3s1

@CoRom103 Hi and welcome to the Forum

I’m assuming you have installed Rancher on Rancher Desktop?

Ref: https://docs.rancherdesktop.io/how-to-guides/rancher-on-rancher-desktop/

That is probably my missing piece. All I have done is install Rancher Desktop on my Windows laptop.

I am also spinning up an Ubuntu server on Proxmox to facilitate the same use.

Oh the fun we have. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
