No sound on SLED15SP7 installation on Dell laptop

Hello,

I just installed SLED15SP7 on a Dell Max Pro 16. The sound volume widget only lists a “Dummy” output device.

What options do I have to get the sound card working?

Rafael

Here’s the hwinfo output on the sound controller:

Hi, is the sof-firmware package installed? Else peruse the journal journalctl -b to look for any errors.

Yes, it was installed.

I switched to Leap 15.6 plus the updated Linux v.7 kernel just to see if it’s a driver issue. The internal speakers don’t work, but the headphone output does.

I’ll have to revisit this issue, since I ultimately will have to run SLED15.
