I spoke with hp and got a driver for the controller

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=5075942&swItem=MTX-46b620c05d294b579050369522&prodNameId=5075943&swEnvOID=4049&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1

I created the usbkey to load the driver during installation, the issue is that there is no documentation as to what else you have to do... In the bios of the server there is 3 controller options: Sata Raid, AHCI and Legacy Sata. Do you have to create the raid with the B110i configuration page? or what... anybody have experience with this? Thanks..

Any luck with this? I am having the exact same issue with a Dell 420 Server.

I'm guessing the order would be:
1) Set the BIOS controller option to SATA Raid
2) configure the Raid on the disks when shown the option to go into the controller options during the boot post screens
3) Install SLES with the added driver option, the partitioner tool should be showing the configured raid volumes (and maybe also the drives seperately depending on that the driver/controller is reporting to SLES). In any case, configure the desired partitioning on the shown raid volumes and do not attempt to reconfigure the shown (if shown) separate drives into a new (software) raid.

Also make sure you are running the latest BIOS version and have the latest controler firmware installed on your system.

As added not for the HP Smart Array B110i SATA RAID Controller driver you posted:

you did notice the "*** Important Note for SLES11 ***"

One boot option required is: "broken_modules=ahci"

Also SLES 11 SP2 does not seem to be supported by this driver -for those trying to install this on SP2-, which can be an issue as SLES 11 SP2 is running the 3.0 kernel.
