we're testing some provisioning scenarios and stumbled over the following problem.
The (intermediate) goal is to provision RHES (we're currently using 7.3b1 for tests) to different target environments, using SuMa3 and kickstart profiles
- provisioning to a physical box works (PXE boot & onwards)
- provisioning as a VM to a KVM box works (the KVM server is managed by SuMa3 as a virtualization host, we can successfully deploy a new VM using an autoinstallation profile set to "KVM virtualization guest")
- provisioning as a VM to a Xen box fails (the Xen server is managed by SuMa3 as a virtualization host, we can initiate the deployment of a new VM using an autoinstallation profile set to "Xen fully virtualized guest")
The problem seems to be that RHES7.x is only supported as a guest on KVM, therefore SuMa3 insists to run the Xen VM as fully virtualized. Once the VM is constructed via koan/virt-install, it boots with an empty virtual disk and without any installation media. Of course, this boot will fail.
Is koan/Xen a supported environment, thus implying I didn't set up / configure our environment correctly?
